Job Description
Event Planning Internship:  Learn event planning from top to bottom. Work with operating Chamber committees. Includes attending committee meetings and preparing minutes, email and phone contact with vendors, site logistics, creation of promotional brochures and web information publicizing the event, on-site event setup, supplies purchasing. Intern should plan to work the day of the event. Events that are part of the internship program include: - Business & Community Expo - Pinnacle and Installation of Officers Gala - Sip of Heaven, Taste of Wine Event - Golf Classic - And smaller monthly events. Preferred course of study: Marketing and/or Business Qualifications: A College degree is not required and the position can be in partial completion for coursework and may accrue credit hours by mutual arrangement with your college. Background in business, political science or marketing a plus. Computer skills: Excel, Microsoft Word, Office 2000, Outlook email program, internet research skills. Microsoft Access database, computer graphic design and Adobe PageMaker a plus. Strong interpersonal, writing, grammar, and telephone skills sought. We seek a candidate who can handle multiple tasks, manage projects and see them through to completion, be flexible about tasks assigned and work independently with some supervision and training. Knowledge of community and local businesses a plus. Friendly and personable nature required as this is a people-oriented position. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and climb stairs required for some assignments. You must like working with a dynamic group of people and interesting customers from all walks of life, from Fortune 500 corporations to the self-employed. Your hours will be scheduled between 8:30AM - 5:00PM weekdays, special events might require evenings, morning or weekend time. Duties will also consist of clerical work that arises daily. Your own car for running errands and attending events is desirable, but not required. The Chamber only has unpaid internships available at this time.
